what are some activities one can do in the morning, afternoon and at night at Rio de Janeiro?
And what are some good hotels and restaurants?

During the morning take in Sugar Loaf, Christ, various culture tours. People on the beaches will hand out flyers on various half and full day tours. During the afternoons check out the thongs at any beach. During the nights, locate a chair at some sidewalk cafe and check out the women strolling by.

Go in the morning on the beach, visiting the Christ redeeming and several other places in the afternoon go in Brazilian malls (they are the best in the world), Walk by RIO DE JANEIRO(it is huge and much bigger than new york) and buy coses.You can attend nightclubs and restaurants the night, I recommend the hotel Copacabana palace, I do not know much of the restaurants there.
