20 Jul 2010 Pantanal Nature Experience

default Pantanal Nature Experience

This was the first photography trip with International Expeditions we took. It was such a great experience, it is our goal to take photo expeditions whenever they are offered. If we did this trip again, I would definitely take a tripod for shooting videos. The Cayman Ranch was absolutely the highlight of this trip. We went in June, 2008 and had perfect weather. This trip exceeded all our expectations. The bounty and diversity of wildlife was awesome. We never thought to see as many hyacinth macaws. We saw huge flocks of other macaws, parrots, toucans and parakeets. It was a delight to find there are that many birds left! Getting around in the back of trucks made it easy to see the country. The exposure to a working cattle ranch in Brazil was an added plus. The hotel we stayed in was wonderful. We heard they were closing it for renovations after we left. I hope it doesn’t lose the ambiance we so enjoyed. The food was very good. We were all hooked on cheese balls by the end of the trip! There was a small gem of a museum at the Cayman Ranch that we would recommend. It is next to the Jaguar and macaw center. I believe it was created by the owners of the ranch. We really enjoyed it. Our guide was great. She had a great deal of experience and a great eye. She would spot game and point it out to us all the time. Between our guide and the photographer, we had an outstanding trip. This trip also included a side trip to Iguaçu Falls, a spectacular series of falls on the Brazil
