Best Salvador de Bahia Ocean View Hotels

Travelers to Salvador de Bahia, the beautiful coastal city in Brazil that is also known as Bahia, will want to stay in a Bahia hotel with an ocean view. There are plenty in this beach town, but here are the best of the best Bahia rooms with ocean views. Grab a towel and a cocktail and hit the beach!

There are two great 5-star Bahia hotel options. The Pestaña Bahia Hotel is an oceanside property with 430 guestrooms – all with ocean views. There are not one, but two, swimming pools in this hotel, with plenty of space for sunbathers to catch some rays. Guests can also soak in the sauna, work out in the gym, and relax at the spa.

The Casa das Portas Velhas Sur also offers 5-star service, but with a boutique twist. The 19th century colonial manor was transformed into a gorgeous hotel, steeped in classical and romantic artworks, sculpture, and décor. Each guestroom has its own charm. There’s also a restaurant and bar in the hotel.

For 4-star Bahia hotels, the Vila Gale Bahia and the Pousada do Pilar are excellent. The Vila Gale Bahia is a huge hotel located right on the beach, and the Pousada do Pilar is located in the historic district and has views of the ocean as well as the historic district.

There are also lots of highly recommended 3-star hotel options, such as those in the Sol Express Hotels and Resorts, but the four and five star hotels mentioned here offer both world-class service and terrific ocean views, maximizing your Salvador de Bahia vacation experience.

Rio?s Most Expensive Hotels

Rio de Janeiro is one of the most expensive cities in the entire world. The reason why prices are so high in this location are well known: great beaches, incredible nightlife, perfect weather and more. With this article, we will try to briefly review some of the most expensive hotels in this location. We will start by presenting the Best Western Sol Ipanema, which is located at Av. Vieira Souto 320, Ipanema, Rio de Janeiro, 22420-000. The rooms here are very comfortable while the deluxe front rooms have panoramic beach views (although back rooms from the eighth floor up, which are the same size, have views of the lagoon and Corcovado).

Caesar Park is located at Av. Vieira Souto 460, Ipanema, Rio de Janeiro, 22420-000, right in the heart of Ipanema, very close to the high-class shops and the expensive gourmet restaurants. Business travelers, heads of states and celebrities, prefer this hotel as it offers impeccable services. The hotel has a business center that offers secretarial services along with fax machines. Other facilities you can find here include a pool with a stunning view on the top floor, delicious Italian restaurant, fully equipped bar and many more.

Copacabana Palace is located at Av. Atlântica 1702, Copacabana, Rio de Janeiro, 22021-001 and it was built back in the 1920s. It has a neoclassical facade and one of the city’s largest and most attractive swimming pools. One of its two restaurants, the Cipriani, is rated among the city’s best for its northern Italian cuisine. Everest Rio Hotel, located at Rua Prudente de Morais 1117, Ipanema, Rio de Janeiro, 22420-041 comes with one of the best rooftop views in all Rio. The back rooms have sea views but they lack any compelling décor. Business travelers visit this place quite often, as the services offered for them are quite various. The restaurant located on the top floor, close to the swimming pool has delicious seafood and some unique specialties from the southern part of Brazil.

Excelsior, located at Av. Atlântica 1800, Copacabana, Rio de Janeiro, 22021-001 is part of the Windsor chain and was built back in the 1950s. The expansive breakfast buffet is served in the hotel’s window-banked restaurant facing the avenue and beach. If you are looking for an escape from the hustle and bustle, the rooftop bar/pool area is the place to go. Hotel Fasano, which you can find at Avenida Vieira Souto 80, Ipanema, Rio de Janeiro was designed by Philippe Starck and it combines glass and marble with period furnishings made out of tropical woods. This is truly a unique hotel in Rio because not only the exterior of the building is very nice but also the sleek interior design of the rooms cannot be found in any other hotels. The guests-only rooftop pool, with its unparalleled ocean views, is Fasano’s masterpiece.

Our last reviewed hotel is Sofitel Rio Palace, which can be found at Av. Atlântica 4240, Copacabana, Rio de Janeiro, 22070-002 and was “face-lifted” in 2000. The building’s “H” shape gives breathtaking views of the sea, the mountains, or both from the balconies of all the rooms. The famous Le Pré-Catalan is here and offers very tasty dinners.

All things considered, if you are willing to pay those big dollars, the variety of options is quite large so we are certain that you will find something that will suit your liking. We hope that you will have a great stay in Rio de Janeiro and have tons of fun.

Hotels With a Difference

At one time, a hotel was just a regular building with lots of rooms, a dining room, bar and perhaps a gym and swimming pool. But as more and more people are demanding something different from their holidays, hotels are becoming increasingly more elaborate and extraordinary.

The latest craze to hit the travel world is the underwater hotel. And where else but Dubai for this feat of hotel engineering? The £300 million Hydropolis will cost roughly £2,780 per room per night and boasts 220 guest suites, an auditorium and a ballroom, both of which break the surface to allow open-air events. The hotel even houses a marine biology laboratory and a cosmetic surgery practice.

But the Hydropolis is by no means the only underwater hotel. Fiji is constructing their own Poseidon Mystery Island, located amidst a vibrant coral reef spanning 5000 acres.

Poseidon will offer a library, 3000 square foot rotating restaurant, and even a wedding chapel. Room prices are set to be around £15,000 per person. It’s due to open in 2009, so start saving now!

Keeping with the water theme, ice hotels have also been more popular over the last decade. The Ice Hotel in Quebec, Canada hosts a nightclub, hot tubs, sauna, and a bar where drinks are served in glasses made of ice. Prices are around £175 per night.

But the Canadians weren’t the first to make use of ice as a tourist trap. The first ice hotel was actually built in Sweden, and has been operating since the 1970′s. Every year, the IceHotel gets re-built as the previous year’s ice perishes.

Hotels are being built to suit just about every terrain and concept. There are hotels built underground, and in trees. Some have sections that revolve, some have entire blocks of suites that revolve, giving the guest a different view every morning. And for those who don’t like staying in the same place, why not stay at a mobile hotel? The Exploranter is one such hotel which travels around Brazil, Chile and Argentina. Made from a converted Scania truck and trailer, the Exploranter can sleep 28 people and has a kitchen and hot showers.

Whatever you’re into, you’re almost guaranteed to find a hotel to match it. The only limit is your pocket.

Seriously all they have is BEAUTIFUL WOMEN :P …. and beaches….and that statues. For god sake they have one of the highest murder rate and AIDS cases on the planet. Why would anybody risk going there on vacation let alone have a Olympics there ? I love a fit woman in a dental floss bikini but Im not putting my life on the line for it.

31 Aug 2010 Q&A: Rio de Janeiro.Advise mountain hotels or apartments with a view to “sugar head”?

Question by Maksim: Rio de Janeiro.Advise mountain hotels or apartments with a view to “sugar head”?

Best answer:

Answer by John W
It’s “Pão de açucar” which translates as “Sugar Loaf”. I don’t know where you got “sugar head” from. The mountain areas are Favellas, basically illegal squatters because there’s a law barring developments up in the mountains in order to preserve the scenic beauty of Rio. Obviously, there’s been many transgressions of that law. You’re better off getting a hotel on Copacabana. The Sofitel is at the opposite end of Copacabana from the Sugar Loaf and has a nice view of the entire crescent shaped beach. There’s plenty of apartments for rent in the area as well.
