Best Salvador de Bahia Ocean View Hotels

Travelers to Salvador de Bahia, the beautiful coastal city in Brazil that is also known as Bahia, will want to stay in a Bahia hotel with an ocean view. There are plenty in this beach town, but here are the best of the best Bahia rooms with ocean views. Grab a towel and a cocktail and hit the beach!

There are two great 5-star Bahia hotel options. The Pestaña Bahia Hotel is an oceanside property with 430 guestrooms – all with ocean views. There are not one, but two, swimming pools in this hotel, with plenty of space for sunbathers to catch some rays. Guests can also soak in the sauna, work out in the gym, and relax at the spa.

The Casa das Portas Velhas Sur also offers 5-star service, but with a boutique twist. The 19th century colonial manor was transformed into a gorgeous hotel, steeped in classical and romantic artworks, sculpture, and décor. Each guestroom has its own charm. There’s also a restaurant and bar in the hotel.

For 4-star Bahia hotels, the Vila Gale Bahia and the Pousada do Pilar are excellent. The Vila Gale Bahia is a huge hotel located right on the beach, and the Pousada do Pilar is located in the historic district and has views of the ocean as well as the historic district.

There are also lots of highly recommended 3-star hotel options, such as those in the Sol Express Hotels and Resorts, but the four and five star hotels mentioned here offer both world-class service and terrific ocean views, maximizing your Salvador de Bahia vacation experience.

Question by Camshaft: Whats the best way to get to Brazil if you drive?
I am planning a trip for over a year and a half from now, its a road trip with 7 other friends from Minnesota down to Brazil. I was wondering how the people of yahoo would do it.

Please include things like where i should rent a van from, a good route to take (or even better a online mapping thing that would map the journey), and any other tips that sound reasonable.

Important Information Before Going to Brazil – By Best Hotel Rates

Brazil has a very diverse culture and a climate.  Summer starts in December and ends in February in this South American country.

So before going on a trip to Brazil, one has to have enough information on what to bring.  Here are a few tips to help in deciding in what to prepare for a trip to this fine country.

Aurora Lillo Editor of the “Best Hotel Deals” website — http://www.BestHotelDeals.biz — pointed out;

“…Protect your photo equipment and other equipment sensitive to humidity…”

Humidity is high in Brazil.  Sealable plastic bags are also useful, so make sure to bring some.

* Bring your medication and prescription.

If you brought some medication, make sure you declare it at the Customs.  There are also some drugs that can be bought from the chemist without a prescription.

* Buy mosquito repellent and sun block when you get there.

These are of good quality and are suitable formulated for the conditions of the country.

* Get Hepatitis shots before leaving for Brazil.

Hepatitis A, B and C cases are prevalent in Brazil.  Also, always wash your hands before eating.  Use appropriate disinfectants and antiseptics.

* Pack light

Most air carriers have a luggage limit of 20 kilos.  Having your clothes washable and mix-matched for different look is more advisable than carrying more clothes.  When not on a business trip, pack casual clothes as most Brazilians dress casually.

* Keep copies of all your important documents.

You may leave copies of these with a friend back home, or keep copies in a separate location from the originals.  You can also email the copies to yourself.

* Bring a pair of sandals

If the reason for the trip to Brazil is the beaches, then a pair of sandals, together with one’s bathing suit and hat is necessary.

* Bring some deodorant and perfume.

One sweats too here and these essentials are very handy.

* Never leave your belongings unattended.

If you can settle for disposable cameras, then, do so.

* Learn some Portuguese.

Knowledge of Portuguese can help when communicating with the locals.  English, Spanish, German, French and Italian are also spoken in tourist areas.

* Have valid entry documents.

One’s passport should be valid for at least six months from the date of entry.  Foreign tourists are given a maximum of 180 days to stay in 1 year. Renewals for 90 days may be obtained from Policia Federal.

* Have some cash handy.

Major credit cards- MasterCard, Visa, Amex and Diners – are accepted, as well as traveler’s checks.  Cash will be needed if you are going outside the major cities.

“…With these guidelines, one can look forward to having an enjoyable travel to Brazil…” added A. Lillo.

What Is The Best Way To Go Hiking In Rio De Janeiro ?

The best place for hiking in Rio is the Tijuca Forest National Park.  Finding a great trail can make the difference between having a so-so time and making your hike a really memorable day. Using the services of a local hiking tour operator is the best way to get around in Rio`s trails, specially the ones like Pedra Bonita, Pico da Tijuca or Pedra da Gávea. If you ask a hotel concierge about adventure tour operators, they will problably direct you to one of their personal choices (specially the ones that pay them a fat comission. In this case, the best way is to search thru the internet, probably the best tool these days.

But before you book your adventure, don`t forget to pay attention to your gear. Hiking boots are the most important part of your hiking gear. The right footwear will carry you farther, faster and safer than any cheap pair of casual shoes will. Plus, your feet and legs will feel a lot better at the end of the day as well.

When it comes to clothing, right shirts and bermudas will make you feel cooler, drier, and more comfortable while you’re hiking. The newest outdoor apparel is made from fabrics that are far superior to yesterday’s cotton or wool. These fabrics are breathable and move moisture away from the body. Once you get all that set and done, don`t forget to take along at least half gallon of drinking water and some snacks. Trails in Rio can last from 2 to 6 hours both ways, and you don`t want to dehydrate half way to the summit right? Enjoy it !!

Best 7 Places For An Outdoor Barbecue in Sydney

Chucking a prawn on the barbie is a nationally-respected Aussie tradition … so don’t think that just because you left all your cooking implements at home, you can’t enjoy one of Australia’s most famous traditions while you are in the country! There are literally thousands of public barbeques that you can use across New South Wales; if you choose one in an area with underground-piped gas, most won’t even cost you any cash! Barbeques are delicious, cheap, and a great way to get out and about and see a little more than yourSydney youth hostel. Here are 7 of the best places to have an outdoor barbeque in Sydney.

1.Olympic Park

Olympic Park is a very recently cleared area, created especially for (funnily enough!) the Olympics in Sydney in 2000. There are free barbeques available here, as well as picnic areas, plenty of shaded grassy spots to sit down, and cycling paths if you’d like to hire a bike and strap on the esky to work off those sausage calories!

2.Lane Cove National Park in Chatswood

There are over 25 individual picnic areas in Lane Cove National Park, so you are not likely to have to share a hotplate with seventeen other families and groups. You will need a car to get here though – see if somebody at your youth hostel in Sydney has already rented a camper, as the entry fee of is charged per vehicle.

3.Bronte Park in Bronte

If you can’t rustle up a vehicle, Bronte Park is easily accessible by public transport. It is well-known as the best spot in Sydney to grab a feed, so plan your barbeque for a weekday to minimize the crowds.

4.Centennial Park in the City Centre

The park was opened in 1901, a green oasis in the middle of the city. The park is enormous, but barbeques are fairly scattered. You might be well-served to hire a bike, because if the hotplate near your entrance is taken, it can be a long walk to find the next one. This does guarantee you a fair bit of privacy, though.

5.Shelley Beach in Manly

Most backpackers in Sydney end up checking out Manly Beach at some stage. Shelley Beach is quite close by, and faces north so in summer you’ll be able to cook your dinner here until around 8pm. Brazilian drums are one of the local attractions here – awesome digestive music!

6.Captain Cook’s Landing Place in Kurnell

This one is a little trickier to get to by public transport, with the more industrial suburb of Kurnell blocking the path from the main youth hostels in Sydney a little. The barbeques here are free, and there is lots of sightseeing and history lesson plaques around the place to keep it interesting.

7.Lake Parramatta

Swimming is no longer allowed in the lake, but there are plenty if ducks to throw your crusts to! Again, the gas barbeques are free, the Lake is easy to get to via public transport, and there is plenty of shade to be found among the big oaks and sycamores.

A summer barbeque is one of the ultimate pleasures of the Australian climate … chargrilling and fresh air are possibly the most underrated seasonings in the entire world!  Make sure you indulge in a BBQ while you’re backpacking in Sydney – cheap, always available, and so much fun.
