Hi i’ve found a nice hotel in Paulista district, the “Mercure Pamplona Apartments Sao Paulo” for only 74 €.
But there are also other result that could be interesting.

Try typing “Paulista” in the search box and you’ll find hotels near by.

In Rio there is a nice hotel near Copacabana called “Majestic Rio Palace Hotel”. i suggest this one because it is also cheap (73€).

for transportation from sao paolo to rio there is a bus every hour.

Safty is ok for both cities if you stay in the “Touristic” part of the city, just try not to go in the subburbs.
you dont have to worry about things to do because when you are there things will come looking for you!!!!

have a nice trip!!

Hi. I’m from Brazil and just came back from there in February. I went to Sao Paulo, Rio, Vitoria, Goiania and Brasilia. I had a blast!!! You don’t really need to speak much portuguese. You’ll have a blast! You probably need to pick up on a few words here and there, to make life easier.
Go to livemocha.com and learn a few stuff there. Also, for hotels in Sao Paulo it will all depend on how much money you want to spend in one of the biggest city in the world. For Rio, stay near Copacabana Beach or Ipanema. There is a not so expensive hotel there (maybe about $120 p/n) and it’s comfortable.

    Try these in Sao Paulo:

    Try these for Rio:

As far as time to go, it is Winter there and it will be colder in Sao Paulo than in Rio. You may need a light jacket in Sao Paulo during most of your stay.

In a bus you’ll spend about 8-9 hrs. JetBlue is in Brazil and they have fairly cheap prices. Gol airlines is fairly cheap as well.

    For Gol airlines go to:

As far as safety, you have to be careful not to flash your walet and jewelry and so on and so forth. As with any big city in the world (a friend was pick pockete in NY last week), you can’t be safe enough.

As for things to do there, it will depend on your taste for what to look for. Let me know what you want to do and I’ll try to help. Beaches, shops, Statue of Christ (one of the wonders of the world), Pao de Acucar, etc…

Where are you from? I have some great friends from Iran who have been to Brazil and loved it!
