 extending brazil visa?

Question by Brittany E: brazil visa?
I am currently in Brazil. A tourist visa is valid for 90-days but you are able to stay in the country for a maximum of 180-days in a one year period, for example you leave then return after visiting another country.
Do I have to wait 90 days before I can re-enter?
Can I only extend my 90-day visa to a 180-day visa if I NEED to stay in the country, for example, matters with the law, if urgent medical attention in required immediately, etc etc, ?

The reason I need to be in Brazil after my 90 days is my Mum has planned a holiday here to me, I am in South America for a year, and her flights, our hotels, everything, are booked and ready in Rio de Janeiro, Sao Paulo, many many place!

Please help!
